Scholarship to Support Student Recipient’s Pursuit of an Advertising and Media Career
NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwired – Dec 22, 2015) – Collective, the ad tech leader and programmatic pioneer, is proud to announce the inaugural winner of The Collective Bill Caspare Memorial Fund Scholarship, which was established by Collective LLC and The 4A’s Foundation to support diversity in the New Media, Data Science and Product Development disciplines within advertising and media. Presented in a private ceremony at Collective’s offices Monday, Dec. 21, the $10,000 will be used to further the recipient’s education.
The winner of the scholarship is Nikita Metharamani, a junior majoring in “The Art of Marketing and Media” at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Metharamani is a first generation American whose father moved here from Calcutta and she is currently a marketing and branding intern at Morgan Stanley. She is also a staff writer at The Washington Square News as well as a writer and photographer for the Violet Vision Fashion Blog. Previously, Metharamani held advertising, PR and marketing internships at LE BOOK and LeadDog Marketing Group, and worked as Section Editor at Baedeker Travel Magazine.
“I have always been interested in new media and advertising and marketing and am eager to pursue a career in the field immediately after graduation,” said Metharamani. “It was such a happy surprise to find out I’d won this scholarship, which will bring me closer to my dream of making a mark in the industry.”
Collective’s CEO Joe Apprendi, Kerry Bianchi, COO at Collective and Nikki Bernardi, daughter of Bill Caspare, were all in attendance during the ceremony.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer such a bright and hard-working young person with a passion for advertising and communications this scholarship. Nikita’s drive, inquisitive spirit and work ethic mirror Bill Caspare’s own dedication to transforming our industry through technology,” said Apprendi.
Created in memory of former Collective Senior Executive Bill Caspare, the Fund is intended to support diversity in the New Media, Data Science and Product Development disciplines within advertising and media. The Fund provides a variety of resources (including scholarships) that allow students and young professionals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds to explore careers in new media, data science and product development.
“Our family feels honored that Collective has created this Fund in memory of my father,” said Bernardi. “It is a great comfort to know he was so appreciated for the work he did in this industry and to be included by Collective in all the details of the Memorial Fund. My father was truly ahead of his time and an inspiration to a lot of people. The Memorial Fund reminds us of that.”
“Nikita represents the purpose of this fund: to spur greater diversity in digital media and marketing, and to reward students from all backgrounds who have found a passion for this industry,” added Bianchi.
